Principles of MRI Series

NEW SERIES INTRODUCED IN THE WINTER OF 2011
Type: Course Lectures
Expertise Level: Intermediate - Advanced
Available on DVD
PRINCIPLES OF MRI SERIES -AND- PHYSICS OF MRI SERIES
17.25 CME credits for the full 15-volume Principles of MRI Series including the full Physics of MRI Series
PRINCIPLES OF MRI SERIES
12.25 CME credits for the 10-volume Principles of MRI Series (without the 5-volume Physics of MRI Series)
In the Principles of MRI DVD series, Dr. Stephen J. Pomeranz introduces a new "tissue-based" teaching methodology for enhancing MR interpretation skills. Tissue differentiation and clinical diagnosis using the spectrum of MR capabilities is reviewed throughout the body in sequence, rather than a strict anatomic approach to pathology and indications. This series focuses on practical diagnostic tools and state-of-the-art training on how to assess (for example) edema, chronic and acute bone injury, muscles and sports hernias, tendons, fibrocatilage, hyaline cartilage, and ligaments on MR.
WHO
SHOULD USE THIS SERIES: Radiologists, primary care physicians,
surgeons, MR specialists, sports medicine specialists, referring
clinicians
EDUCATIONAL GOAL FOR THIS ACTIVITY
Dr.
Stephen J. Pomeranz’s Principles of MRI Series: This
professionally
produced, interactive DVD series features lectures covering the principles of MRI and teaches diagnosis and
interpretation skills. It also helps physicians understand how MR best fits
into the diagnostic algorithm for patient care.
OBJECTIVES
Participants who complete this activity should be able to
identify normal anatomy and variations, as well as pathology of the
musculoskeletal system. They should be able to recognize indications and
applications of magnetic resonance imaging and other advanced imaging
modalities for abnormalities of bone and soft tissues. This series will
also discuss a multidisciplinary approach to patient management allowing
for practice improvement and better patient care.
PHYSICIAN ATTRIBUTES
One or more of the following topics will be addressed
during this activity: better image triage, improved diagnostic acumen,
change in approach to dilemmas, enhanced communication, practice
systems, better utilization of technology, strategies for patient
treatment, etc.
ACCREDITATION STATEMENT
Physicians: The ProScan Imaging Education Foundation is Accredited with Commendation by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the ACCME.
DESIGNATION STATEMENT
ProScan Imaging Education Foundation designates this enduring material for a maximum of 17.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (for the series). Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
1.0 to 1.75 CME CREDITS PER TITLE
Issued: 10/13/11
Expires: 10/13/14
PHYSICS OF MRI SERIES
5.0 CME credits for the full 5-volume Physics of MRI Series
The comprehensive Physics of MRI Series covers the molecular basis for magnetic resonance imaging, including the relaxation properties of protons. Viewers of lectures in this series will know the parameters needed for different pulse sequences; recognize the strengths and weaknesses of various pulse sequences, and understand their applications in a clinical setting; and recognize artifacts commonly associated with MR imaging.
